VisualComa Construction – Week 8

Week 8 -> Latest Work

This weekend I decided to focus on my “Latest Work” portion of the site. I found a little bit of jQuery specifically called “jFlow” that I thought would be cool to use. So, I created a special loop based on Parent Child Pages and one for Categories and I’m in the process of working out the details and styling.

Check it out.

Anyway there is still much to do, and I’m thinking about adding a jQuery slider that will grab a Custom Field for selecting projects. I’m really going to give this one a go, I think with a little patients and planning this could be a great little plugin for Featured Content.

The Rules:
Every week on Saturday I’m going to spend about 5hrs or so Making an update. Weather it’s a Visual or Functional UpDate I’ll be posting the change here every Monday under this Cateogory VC-Construction.

VisualComa Construction – Week 7

Week 7 -> FrameWork WrapUp / Functionality Check

This week I focused on a particular function I’ve been working on for a couple of months. Last Friday something clicked and I figured out what I was missing.

I now have an arbitrary Widget with about 30 options that will allow me to place any “Page” or set of Category “Posts” into a Widgetized area. Options include most basic loop items, with fields for standard WP customizations. There [...] Read More

VisualComa Construction – Week 6

Week 6 -> PSD Cut / FrameWork Stage 2

This weekend was a huge step for the general look and feel for this Theme. Where as last week I left everything at a very blank spot, this week has made a vast improvement on the visual aesthetics of the posting section, the sidebar and the loop.

Here is what I had last week. public.visualcoma.com and here is the final design comp.

The focus of this weekend was:

VisualComa Construction – Week 5

Week 5 -> PSD Cut / FrameWork Stage 1

This weekend I took the comp you see below and worked it into my frame work. I kept the development to a minimum that I’ve listed below. So if your wondering why things may feel a little in shambles that is why. Technically the Theme is active but only have developed.

I Still feel like the color could use some more saturation, I think I’m loosing to much [...] Read More

VisualComa Construction – Week 4

Week 4 -> Design Round 2

Round 2 was a little touchy and more focused on miniscule details that I might be the only person will ever notice.

From R1 to R2

Completed the Navigation
Tweaked the header on the top right.
Softened the effect on the title “VisualComa” (all though it needs to be stronger in color, Firefox washes out color.)
Added Sidebar Titles w/ Icons.
Adjusted the outter edge of the “page”
Added Footer Content
Added Post Content

What do You Think?

VisualComa Construction – Week 3

Week 3 -> rlh_options.php

Originally this week was supposed to be Design Round 2, but as I got into my time for Project Construction I found myself wishing for a more streamlined admin area.

I have about a dozen small options that are managed through the admin, but I’ve been throwing them together over the last 4 months with out much prep time or overall concept framework. So I spent my 5hrs this weekend cleaning up code [...] Read More

VisualComa Construction – Week 2

Week 2 -> Design Round 1

Something I’ve always wanted to do with my designs is to give the viewer a sense of space, a feeling of air and touch of creative craft; while at the same time be professional.

At this point in the Design I feel as though I’ve accomplished most of my goals with out over using some standard techniques. I’m not 100% on this Design by any means, but I’m excited about its [...] Read More

VisualComa Construction – Week 1

As you may have noticed I have once again decided to change things up around here and do something drastic. I’ve decided to do a public build of my next Personal Theme.

Every week on Saturday I’m going to spend about 5hrs or so Making an update. Weather it’s a Visual or Functional UpDate I’ll be posting the change here every Monday under this Cateogory VC-Construction.

The Basic Concept is to start with a relatively Blank Canvas [...] Read More
