I Made it to Franklin Tn + Updates

About me

franklin-tennessee.jpg

Some of you may not know and some of you may not really care, but I have moved to Franklin. I found a nice little place with 3 other guys and its’ a really cool house to be in. It didn’t take me much to get my stuff up here. In fact Brody and I moved it in one trip in his car, that luckily has fold down seats.

I had my first dinner here and it sucked. I made some burritos (classic hicks style). The top of my mouth is going to be one big blister by the morning because apparently the microwave here came strait from NASA. Usually I’m standing right there when someone over cooks their food in the microwave and I love to give them crap for being stupid about it. Lucky for me there is a huge window where I can see my reflection, I called myself an idiot a few times.

Updates

Work has basically consumed my days for the last two weeks, and in a weird way I like it. There are some really good things in the mix, and we are in the process of producing a few things that we’re hoping will at least get you to shake your head with a pleased chuckle.

SkorInc has joined forces with Outdoor Encounter and were expecting good things to happen locally. There are also 2 or 3 other things in the mix that are really going to put a strain on our relationship here.

Good things are Happening. Anyone out there have some good things going? Drop me a link.

Meeting with Outdoor Encounter

Work

oe-logo.gifI just got back from a great meeting with Ben and Rebecca Wynd. Rebecca is the Director of Outdoor Encounter, and is heading up a project to secure over a 100 acres for a Community Rec. Park in Spring Hill, TN.

We just had an amazing talk about their project and their hopes for the local community, and I’m pretty jazzed about it. The amount of potential this project has is absolutely amazing, and what makes it even better is Ben and Rebecca are really good people with a specific & active interest in their community.

We spent about an hour and half talking about community involvement and how to bring it on line. It was a really good talk, and I could see the gears turning over all the possibilities that opened up over the dinning room table. Again, absolutely amazing.

By far one of the best parts about what I do is to help enable people to communicate, and more specifically, communicate to their particular community. We’ve decided to begin full development of the Outdoor Encounter site, and I think we’re all really excited to see it come together.

So, with all that in mind, read their Mission Statement, show your support and leave them a comment of encouragement.

Outdoor Encounter : Mission Statement:

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for those around us — not only by preserving green space, but by making that valuable space accessible to people of all ages. By providing free outdoor recreation alternatives set within a natural haven, we can unite our communities and give residents a healthier environment in which to connect, play and grow.

Outdoor Encounter

Work

hiker.jpgRebecca Wynd is the head of a local Org. that is trying to get 100 acres for a Community Rec. Park in Spring Hill, TN. I plan to get involved with their web presence to help give them a platform to communicate.

If any of you folks reading this are within 50mi of Spring Hill, or if you just have a serious love for the outdoors send them a little link love. My goal with this is to create a buzz on Google, and maybe even attract a couple of heavy hitters in the local area.

Go and read, see what their doing and if you’re compelled, get involved.

oe-logo.gifWe just had our first Board Meeting this past Wednesday. It was very productive – we have a great team of 6 people and are currently looking for one more person, someone with a legal background and a love for the outdoors.

Our priority at this point is getting the land. We have decided on our first fundraiser, which will be announced at a later point. Money is the only missing factor to completing this project. There are many people waiting to help and wanting to do everything they can to see this happen. So, it’s now up to our Board to negotiate with the land owners and find ways to gain access and/or acquire the land.

I am going to be sending out an email to all those on my list with various ways to get involved and help out. I should have that out by Monday or Tuesday. In that email, there will be the opportunity to volunteer to upkeep our website. I know you had mentioned helping with that, so when I get that email out, if it’s still something you are interested in, please let me know.

Other than that, it’s just about getting the word out. Please have anyone you know who is interested in helping with this project email me their contact info. I am keeping a database so I can send mass emails, updating all who are interested.
