Normally I wouldn’t be worried about that, but lately I’ve been trying to come up with a business side to this here visualcoma of mine. I plan to change things up a little bit, but for the most part things will remain the same. I’m even going to get a business card, ooooh aaaah…

I’ve come to like the minimalist style so much that all i want is a white page with some black words on it. Maybe I’ll give it a shot :cool:

Honestly pre-design makes it easy on a project, what more could you want than to have most of the design ready and approved. Although the speed of a project doesn’t always depend on design approval. ( Hosting issues can be the bane of my existence…

Anyway,,, Go and check out Damian’s site. He’s been in the industry for a while and I’m pretty sure you’ve heard some of his older stuff. Give him a Welcome and say hello, tell him to read your blog and what blogs he should be reading…

I’ve had this waiting on my back burner for about 2 months and I just haven’t had the time to test it, and wouldn’t you know it I only spent about a half hour on it…
If I’d realized that I probably would have done this a long time ago.

Let me just through this out there for all you guys, if you’re going to use libraries for your sites you should look in wp_enqueue_script() as a way to call your js files… There are a lot of conflicts out there from other Plugins so this will help clean up the mess.

Although if you are really wondering where this came from than you should go and read some of the magnificent Tuts over at Nettuts. They do a great job of laying out some of the basics the new web…

This was probably one of the most painless projects I’ve ever done, and I have to say I’m really happy with it. I think there are a few things that I could probably spend a couple of weeks tweeting and finessing, but for the most part I think it’s a winner.

Honestly I think this theme would see it greatest potential if IE6 were dead, but hey what are you going to do.

So hey everyone go over and say hi, Elijah is a great guy and I’m kinda excited to see what he does. Oh, and if you see something that is broken let me know.

I like to call this Theme VC Simplicity 001. I’ve been so busy lately and I’ve let my actual posting drop off, but I’ve been twittering and sending mass flickr images so I decided to put more focus on my micro blogging stuff and simplify everything.

Yes, Yes, I know “dark is hard on my eyes”,,, I’m sorry I’ve been prominently a white based theme for almost 8mo so here I’ll give this a shot.

Again let me remind you this was put together in a matter of about 5hrs so if you see mistakes let me know… :-)

btw, have you heard any Joy Whitlock lately??? you should, it will grow on you…

Outdoor Encounter

I’m kinda excited to see this take off. I really think that they have something worth doing and I’m glad to be apart of it. Rebecca and Ben Wynd have put a lot of effort into getting things started so if you would be so kind as to give them a welcome to the web and the blogging world that would be fantastic.

Daniel Renstrom

I’m sure most of you have been around and seen or read about Daniel. If not you should go and check him out, in fact he has a free song on his site if you go back in his post about a week or two. I had a hard time with his theme, but we made some executive decisions and ran with it. Keep your eye on this guy because I think he’s going to do some amazing things in the future.

Here is my latest work… Connersvine…

The Connersvine theme is by far my favorite one, and for some reason I was able to wizz through it. I think design only took about a week and a half, and coding took about another week. I love it when this happens, work seems to be a breeze and it’s actually fun to work all hours of the day and night.

Here are a few things I like about the design…

• Real photos to work with… Cool background image.
• Fixed header Link section.
• Use of png’s with Opacity.
• Comments section. (nothing that special, just different than what I’ve done so far)
• Posting section has some new ideas I’ve been wanting to do.

All in all I’m really satisfied with their new design. Check it, click on stuff and let me know what you think. (yes, I know there is nothing in the news section)

Perhaps this is gibberish, but Im pretty sure most everyone out there knows what happens when you use a cheap jpg image. They look like crap and you wish you wouldn’t have used it after you’re done posting it.

Anyway, the point is, A good png image with a transparent background can be dropped on top of any color or image and will work great. (that is if you built your image right) Is it worth the price? Sometimes when you really need it, yes. I could spend 5kb on a gif or i could spend 40kb on a png. I figure as long as your layout page load is under 500kb it’ll be ok.

This is the age of high speed internet. If you dont have it than you’re not surfing, you’re swimming.

With ever changing content and updates that roll in about every week, it seems like we are always having to find another little space to put a new item. With blogging type content you had better be prepared to add, add and add some more. I mean it when I say, ‘You had better be prepared‘. If you’re not, the next thing you know you’ll have a completely jumbled site with crap all over it. Your viewers wont be able to focus on much and you end up with people that only read the posts. At that point all your extras go to waste.

I think we accomplished most of our Goals with the latest revision of MercyMe. We’ve cleaned up the navigation and simplified it by putting it in a standard horizontal arangment. We took all the extras and condenced them into images that we placed in a single sidebar. There’s no explination need for what they have available, if you cant figure out what you’re clicking on than you may need glasses.

Bart has recently start Twitter, so we brought that in for you to check out. The MercyMe web crew, who is awesome by the way, has had a pretty killer audio player on the Official Website for a while now so we decided to add that for you’re listening pleasure. The Blog Roll seems to have expanded to a double column. (I swear those blog rolls are like rabbits) And finally we added a little section at the bottom for those who are curious about what has been going on in the past or just looking for something specific.
