Our Kids Technology

worlds_first_airplane_2.pngOver time I don’t think any one could deny the fact that the technology we’re worinkg on right now are just play things to our Kids.

What will happen over the next 20yrs as these kids develop. Yeah, yeah, flying cars and microchips blaw blaw blaw… Let’s move past that typical crap and be realistic. What happens to a generation that uses communications and plays with technology from the time their able to hold it in their hand.

From age 2 kids these kids have touch screen toys popping digital bubble wrap, and watching their Pops play labyrinth with an Accelerometer rather than a marble. Their parents have always had a device that’s either in their hand, pocket, purse at all times.

Basically I’m curious about how the younger generation will take our greatest achievements and turn them into daily items.

personally it makes me nervous. It makes me want to live in the boon docks with no technology to raise my kids. What if technology fails at some point in the future…? People won't know how to heat up their dinner or get in touch with each other. Or maybe they will, but one thing is for sure they will be the MOST impatient people we will ever meet… they will get everything instantly, and if they can't get something instantly… uh oh, watch out.

    • I hear ya! Thats why I plan to make my kids do things that suck like "work or stuff"… we never really had a free ride, but we definitely had a lot of help.

I think we cleaned the breasway enough and stacked enough wood to know what it takes. But then again Im not married yet so we'll see!! ^_^

  2. I love that you love 24. I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to catch up. I'm hooked for sure.

  3. my daughter is 3 and can use my iPhone better than my wife can…

(on a side note – what do you think about intense debate? I had issues with it and ended up ditching the thing…)

    • I hear you about the kids, It's crazy cause Brody's kids are crazy good at all that stuff and have been know to lockup his phone and send email. kinda funny really

I've been sticking with Intense Debate just to see it develop and keep tabs on its use and stuff. Since Automattic owns it I figure i'll keep using it for sake of development. I've been getting updates on some of the issues over the last month or two and I've seen some replies to some of the problems. Like the comments disappearing or the just not showing up. Random things like that…

For the most part I havn't seen any problems in the last month but then again Im not generating a massive comments driven blog here. I wan to give it another go on brody's blog here soon.

    hi guys,

im probably late to this blog. Some great post and amazing comments. Ya as you said technology became ready-made to our generation children and it has both the boon and bane. The boon being the reach of the technology for making things easy and the bane being putting the full stop to make them think. So guys lets see what happens……..

    cheers,
    Naomi

  5. Kids Must use technology like us. Kids are the future. But we've Got to Protect them from troubles.
