First things first.
I think it only fair to tell you this right off the bat. This series is designed for those of you that are interested in having your own domain name and your own Hosting package. Both of these cost $money. Be assured I am not the one making that money.
Why?
The Why can be simple or difficult, it’s all up to you. The Why for me was easy, I like web design and I cant help myself. I have to have control over how my site works and how it looks. (even if im constantly changing both) There are two basic reasons for Why.
- Freedom to do more. The only cost, apart from real $, is learning how.
- Independence. (a lot like freedom) Being independent from the .WordPress site will allow you to expand when you get the itch. For most of you there is no need to have this, that’s fine.
- Note: The biggest mistake that Ive come across when dealing with people that want Freedom and Independence in their own site don’t realize that they simply don’t need it. If you are familiar with what you have and you like what you have than stick with it. The people that need Freedom and Independence are the people that go to expand them selves on the web and find themselves trapped. Unable to do expand where they want because .WordPress the website has limits. Which is a good thing for you and them.
- Examples: Here are a few people that have more than the average bear.
- Brody Harper: long time friend.
His visits per day has been growing rapidly of the last year. Through trial and error he found himself trapped and only able to do so much at .Wordpress.
- Carlos Whittaker: supper blogger
This guy is a no brainer on the subject, he has way more than the average bear and doing well. Although he may not apply to those of us who keep a simple blog.
- Shaun Groves: Musician
Obviously has a need for more than a simple blog.
- Daley Hake: Photographer
This guy keeps it fairly simple but felt the need to have what he wanted. His own creative input.
Conclusion…
If you’re a simple blogger and aim to keep it that way, than stay on track and keep on posting. But!, if you find yourself continually trapped by .Wordpress and the irritation has got your little mouse fearing for its buttons than you may need to expand. I would agree that not everyone is a super blogger or a photographer, and most of us are no where near becoming a Musician. But!. Someday there may be more.
Suggestions…
- Blog until you reach that wall.

Sounds interesting.
I’m one of the visitors from Brody’s blog.
As a part-time/amateur web developer experimenting with wordpress, I’ll be back to see what you have to say on the matter.
